The resume should be with a photo.
When choosing a resume format/template, be sure to pick the one that has a space
of a photo. Regardless of the vacancy you are interested in, the picture should not
be from the social networks. Give preference to the portrait where you are dressed
up and looking serious. Also, it is better to choose a photo of good image quality for
the employer’s first impression to be positive.
The optimal resume size is one page.
A long resume is rarely read by an employer. Remember, the shorter, the better.
Also, pay attention to the order in which it is made. You do not need to create a
resume form with Word, as there are ready-made templates. You should not add
unnecessary things to the resume; it should be meaningful and concise at the same
time. If you are sending a resume electronically, save it in PDF format. In this case,
regardless of the employer's computer software difference, your resume will remain
the exact same way that you have sent it.
About the "Additional Information" section.
It is desirable to write not only about professional achievements, but also about
other areas of life, such as sports interests. If you have succeeded in your hobby
field, you can assume that you have the personal qualities needed to achieve your
goals. Your social activity is also viewed positively. Do not go and lie down on the
couch after work, invest in your self-development and have time for your hobbies!
Be honest when writing about what you expect from a new workplace.
State your personal goals: money, career, career growth. If you point out that you do
not need all this and your goal is to benefit the company, firstly, the employer will not
believe you, and secondly, he will not have the tools to influence (encourage or
punish) you, because you do not need anything.
Describe your strengths, do not avoid mentioning the already traditional
“communication skills”, “sense of responsibility” and “stress resistance”.
While pointing out, just outline the advantages of the latter, for example, briefly
describe the personal qualities due to which you have achieved success.
When pointing out weaknesses, also write the truth.
For example, if you don't like dealing with a lot of people, you don't like rushing into
pre-programmed work, then there is nothing to worry. The employer will receive an
idea of your temper and the kind of work that you will do more effectively.
Do not say bad things about a former employer in a resume or during the
interview.
A potential employer will think that one day you will talk about him in the same
manner, thus possibly affecting his reputation, which is something that the employer
naturally would not like.
Finally, it is not the resume securing the job, but the person.
Remember that a resume is simply a possibility for a conversation; it is more
important to prepare for the interview.
